Check Out Crystal Ruiz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Ruiz.

Hi Crystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Crystal.

It’s lovely to meet you. I am here to share my story with you on how I started my journey of courage.

Ten months ago I was facing an authenticity crisis. I was working in corporate America in a position that felt blah, empty, and very much like watching the grass grow. In other words DEADLY. I was lacking the planning and creative outlet that I desperately craved and sets my soul on fire.

My journey of planning, styling and organizing events started back in Chicago during college. Over the years I have had the opportunity of working in corporate event planning with major brands and large corporations in various capacities. And that’s when I realized I thrived effortlessly in the event planning space.

I saw and felt signs from the universe, nudging me to start a business. That is when I stopped waiting and started living. I quickly moved with the momentum I was feeling and started researching, learning, and building towards starting a micro-events business. And within a few months, I had created a pop-up picnic business today known as Desert Bloom Picnics.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I recall when I was younger stating I will never own a business. My family line generation includes Latino business owners, my mother, grandparents, and great-great-grandparents all were entrepreneurs. This is a good time to say, never say never… I said that because my parents were always working and any activity revolved around the schedule of our business.

I believe this is the hardest obstacle business owners struggle to adjust to work-life balance.
When you own a business you go from working 8 hours to 12-15 hours. You have to be willing to dedicate time to be successful, including your personal life and your family life. It takes effort and trial and error to find balance and separate work hours from family time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

We operate as a Latino family-owned micro event picnic business located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Si, hablamos español. We pride ourselves on high-style picnic set-ups with edible graze tables.

We create a picnic space that allows you to connect with nature, surrounded by the company of those you treasure, while grazing on the eye-catching grazing table design. We provide all the picnic essentials to enjoy in an aesthetically pleasing memorable picnic setting. We bring our authentic creativity and passion for event design to you with our picnics. The concept is simple; we coordinate and you celebrate.

Our graze table is what sets us apart from others. What is a grazing table?
As the name suggests, it’s a table for grazing. Designed to make it visually appealing for guests to pick up and nibble at food.

Our best seller is the 2 hour Signature Picnic valued at $325. This picnic includes a high-styled picnic space with an 8-foot teepee, a complete tablescape, picnic decorations that are aesthetically pleasing, fresh florals to adorn your table, and our custom graze table.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We love meeting the communities across the valley, collaborating in partnerships, and making new friends.

With the help of the community, we can grow invisibility, with the help of partnerships we can expand our services, and with the help of our new friends, we can grow in our social media presence.
