Check Out Bianca Valenzuela and Celeste Carrera’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Valenzuela and Celeste Carrera.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
Our names are Bianca and Celeste, and we’re sisters and co-owners of Bohemian Escape Co., a luxury picnic company. We come from a large Hispanic family and are proud to be Arizona natives. We’re currently working professionals within the financial services and college recruiting industries. While we both found professional success, we always felt something was missing. We would talk about how incredible it would be if we could own our business, set our own rules, and do it together. It was a nice idea, but only that, an idea.

Fast forward many years to 2020, a year that stands memorable for so many. We were both learning how to work remotely, Bianca and her husband had just given birth to their first child, and Celeste and her fiancé were busy planning their upcoming wedding. It was a busy time in our lives, but we kept returning to the notion of starting our own business. We discovered that we had a passion for planning and organizing events. We were excited by the opportunities where we could create beautiful tablescapes, find cute decor, and plan small gatherings. Keep in mind this was a lot harder to do during a Pandemic, but we didn’t see this as extra work; instead, we were excited and had a longing to do more of this. At the end of 2021, we finally decided to make our “idea” a reality giving way to Bohemian Escape Co.

We took a lot of time discussing how we wanted Bohemian Escape Co to look and feel and wanted quality pieces to bring the spaces to life. Our decors were deliberately hand-picked to show our clients they can customize every aspect of their experience. Our whole process allows our clients to create and build their special events with little work. They are involved in choosing location, theme, and color. We get to create spaces they envision and bring them to live stress-free.

Although we started our business during a time of uncertainty, we knew we were committed to creating intimate moments through our picnics. We want our clients to escape their reality and gather with the special people in their lives. Bohemian Escape Co strives to bring that to life and help you be a little unplugged for the night so that you can escape.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As we reflect on our journey, perhaps the most challenging thing so far is constantly reminding ourselves that starting a new business takes time, research, patience, and a lot of energy. It’s easy sometimes to feel discouraged when you do not see the expected outcomes as quickly as you want them. However, we’ve done a good job of balancing each other out and anchoring us back to why we decided to do this in the first place; to create special and one-of-kind memories for people to share with their loved ones. We love what we do and believe others will love our work too. We’re starting to see growth and learning new things each day. We’re learning the importance of content creation and social media marketing while growing our base. We’re learning to trust in ourselves and our vision.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We think success is finding fulfillment in your actions while staying true to who you are. This is much easier said than done. For many years we were conditioned to think that success was only associated with promotions, income, and things of that sort. We’re not saying these things aren’t necessary because we all know they can be, and we recognize they can also elevate your way of life. However, success can be much more. We see it as being connected and passionate about your work and feel valued and recognized while being your authentic self. We’re in the beginning phases of our business, but we’re being true to what we believe in and redefining how we view success. We are Hispanic women, and we were brave enough to start our own business. Regardless of the outcome, we feel like we’ve already succeeded.
