Check Out Backwood Biddy ’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Backwood Biddy .

Hi Backwood Biddy; it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I began writing poetry at an early age. Around 7 years old, I would write children’s books. With the splitting of my parents came the introduction of two very different households. I grew up in my father’s home, a household without music, and I didn’t discover my passion for it until I was much older. Around the age of 11 is whenever my mother began introducing me to music, artists such as Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Nas, Jay Z, etc. As I dove head first into the world of music, I discovered a newfound passion specifically for Hip Hop & Rap. I decided to take my poetry and literature background and began creating my very first songs. I started releasing music as “Backwood Biddy” in 2019. I had released a few songs beforehand, but they were all released under different aliases. Since 2019 I have released 5 Singles, 2 EPs, and a 19-track Mixtape, and I’m preparing to release the “BIG BACKWOOD” Mixtape, which will boast 11 tracks! I just finished my “Spring 2022 Tour,” performing 6 live shows around the state of Arizona from Avondale to Prescott, back down to Goodyear, and around again! I’m stopping by radio stations, podcasts, & live shows alike to chop it up and drop a couple of freestyles on my “Summertime Showtime Takeover”!! I’m passionate about what I do & at the end of the day, I’m just an artist trying to paint a picture for the listener.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is never a smooth road. I’ve faced many obstacles on the path to where I am today. Sometimes everyday life has this way of trying to prevent you from chasing your dreams. Since a young child, I’ve battled suicidal depression. But I do not let my “lows” define me. I tell myself to “break the mold,” “rip the envelope,” & “be you” because I’m only going to get this one chance to be who I want to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a rapper. If you were to listen to my music, you would hear me voice my struggles, my pain, and the things that motivate me to keep achieving! I believe that this vulnerability makes me relatable and keeps the listener tuned in for the next track! As I perform my songs live, I find myself bringing energy back to even the most worn-out crowds, and I can say that is something I am proud of.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Since I’m from Pittsburgh, PA, my favorite thing about Phoenix is the amount of love and support I get from strangers! It’s an honor to come here and entertain because I know I will reciprocate all the love. If I were to say that there was anything I disliked about PHX, I’d most certainly have to mention the above-average temperatures! 120 degrees Fahrenheit is a no-go for me!
