Check Out Abby Rogan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Rogan.

Hi Abby, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello everyone, my name is Abby. I am a permanent makeup artist located in Tempe, Arizona.

Since I was a little girl, I knew I wasn’t going to settle for a normal 9 – 5 job. I knew I wanted to be my own boss one day. An opportunity to open a beauty store with my mother presented itself to me at 19 years old. It really taught me a lot about how to build something from the ground up. Although my mother sold the business after a few years, from that moment, I knew I was going to build my own thing.

Once I finished college, I ventured out on my own in a job in corporate IT. I wanted to get into the beauty industry myself, but I was not sure how and felt too much pressure from friends and family that I had a “Good Job”. After a few years of working, I got married to my husband, who supported me from day one in this adventure. Planning ahead in our future, I want to be able to raise babies and have my career. That’s how PhoenixBrowz started.

I love seeing the smiles (and happy tears) I brought to my client’s face after the permanent makeup procedures, especially during the 3D Areola Reconstruction session. Permanent makeup is not only a beauty service. It can also help people gain confidence about themselves as well as saving time on a daily basis.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It seems almost impossible to list the number of challenges you face starting your own business. Now add tattooing beautiful people’s faces. In the beginning, the anxiety was unreal; sometimes, I would come home and cry to my husband after the appointment. I would also have sleepless nights worrying about the clients the next day. This means a lot to me, I really try to put my best effort in everything I have ever done.

Starting any small business, you are immediately giving up all your free time, no weekends. That can be a challenge maintaining relationships with friends and family. People stop inviting you to events because the responses are always “I need to work”, especially on weekends. The people who really love you will still be there and when you start to see the signs of your business succeeding it becomes all worth it. I could not do it without them and their support.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
PhoenixBrowz offers permanent makeup tattoos, including Microblading, Ombré Powder Brows, Lip Blush, as well as facial services like Microneedling. I also specialized in 3D Areola tattooing for breast cancer survivors. We apply numbing creams for all our clients to minimize any discomfort. A permanent makeup tattoo on average can last 2 – 3 years with proper care.

Our goal is to provide you with beautiful skin and flawless permanent eyebrows. I strive to be one of the best permanent makeup artists in Arizona, staying up to date with the latest techniques and products to provide our clients with quality results. Be a part of this exciting adventure and experience a pristine, makeup-ready look 24/7! You’ll leave feeling your absolute best!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is when preparation + consistency meets opportunity.

Success is also when you need time off (for any reasons: families, mental, vacation, etc.), you can afford to take time off (for as long as needed) without needing to worry about anything financially (or job security).
