Check out Amanda Rubio’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Rubio.

Amanda, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Growing up, I had a passion for beautiful food. I used to cut up fruit and arrange them in bowls of yogurt to design flowers. I suppose my love for food just grew from there! I attended Johnson and Wales University in Denver for Baking and Pastry Arts and graduated in 2015. After staying in the city for a while, my mom finally bribed me to move home by offering helping me open my own business out of her house- how could I say no?? So that’s exactly what I did in February of 2017. That summer, Baby Jane’s was up and running and we aren’t anywhere near slowing down!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My goal is to create wedding cakes that are as unique as the couples cutting into them. I believe that each wedding cake should be specifically designed to be remembered forever as a one of a kind creation. I enjoy creating designs that are a little bit out of the box- sticking with the trends tends to bore me. If you’ve seen one semi-naked drip cake, you’ve seen them all!

How can artists connect with other artists?
When I first started, I was definitely lonely. I was working by myself in my house all day instead of in a kitchen with a team. But I soon realized that networking with other professional artists opens doors you never even knew existed! I see other bakery owners as friends and love working with other professionals in the wedding industry on collaborations where we can both shine!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Since I am currently renting a kitchen space and not yet a storefront, people can visit me by appointment or 24/7 online on our social media! Support comes in many forms, but the easiest is just by following our business online and interacting with us when we post something that catches your eye!
