Today we’d like to introduce you to Liv Serda.
Liv, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I have been capturing moments through the lens since I got out of high school, not to age myself but it’s been almost 9 years ago. I started off doing photography for fun as I am a photogenic person, then, it became a hobby of mine. Once family and friends started talking to me about making a business doing photography, it opened my eyes. I realized, I loved taking photographs, I loved the artistic feel, and I loved the reactions my clients would provide to me once they had seen the photographs. So, I began promoting my business more through Social Media, a website, business cards, etc. H & Co. Photography is a family business as it takes more than one person to run a successful business. One day, I would hope my children would take over the business and continue spreading memories throughout the generations to come.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My philosophy is to “capture moments through the lens”. Everyone loves memories they can hold on to and cherish for the rest of their lives. And why not obtain those memories have at a low price, since everything else in life is expensive. My prices are not expensive as I want to provide excellent service at low cost. I do provide destination photo shoots as well, as I love traveling. If you want a Beach maternity session, let’s go! If you want a wedding in Sedona, I am there! I strive to not limit the number of edits I provide to my clients as I know how precious these moments are. My clients love that I provide a variety of edits and capture other candid moments as well and they love how quick my turn around time is. I am a very impatient person and I strive to not make my clients wait either. Sneak peeks are my favorite as it provides my clients and others a quick glance as to what is to come. Currently, I provide maternity shoots, portraits, weddings, and have now added newborn shoots to the mix. My goal is to let my clients have fun, be happy, be themselves, and enjoy their photo shoot. I love romantic and sexy photo shoots between a couple and newlyweds, as it captures their love for all to see through an image. That one image can create an impact. I am excited to expand my portfolio and I am excited to meet new families and hope to stick with them throughout their journeys.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
I would say to start off realistic and slow. We tend to think we can do it all but taking on too much will stress you out the most. We can’t have all the props we want right off the bat, but build up to it. Something I do as I let my clients know if they want to donate a prop, a discount will be applied to their photo session. Also, social media is a great promoting tool, and most of it is FREE. Start there and then move up to business cards, and a website, and more.
