Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaila Baril.
Kaila, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I bought my first camera five years ago, a Nikon D3300, it certainly was not the best but it was the perfect camera to learn on before investing thousands of dollars. I learned the basics, developed my eye, and explored all the avenues photography has to offer. About a year ago, I was approached by a sponsor who offered to help upgrade my equipment, it was a complete surprise and an incredible blessing. Since then, I have printed my own Cowboy Calendar, shot multiple rodeo events, and have developed a marketing consulting business. There is always more to learn and I keep saying yes to every opportunity!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Photography has always been an outlet for me. It is time to myself, a release of tension, and a way to express myself. I am not very focused in my art, I have jumped from rodeo photography to portraits to landscapes. It is how I stay adventurous, it gives me an excuse to travel, and bring to life the photos I have had in my head since middle school.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Determination. In a market that is so saturated, the ones who succeed are the ones who do not give up. Success is different for each person because our goals are different and that is why there is room for all of us. You can photograph weddings, nature, portraits, etc. The list is long and you can find your place.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
