Flashes & Strokes: a Tale of Two Mediums

The digital and traditional arts are thriving in Phoenix. From newer, technology based media like photography and digital art to more traditional art, there is so much to see, explore and learn from throughout the region. Through our Flashes and Strokes series, we’d like to celebrate artists from both worlds: traditional and digital.

Do you remember (those of you that grew up in the 70s and 80s) a child novelty called Magic Rocks? I don't know what they were made out of but they came in a kit in different colors and you fill a clear bowl or clear container full of water, then drop in those colored chips or whatever they are and in time they grow up into interesting little stalagmites and look really cool?? Well that's what I thought of when this little painting came to be so it is aptly titled, Magic Rocks. I may still tweak it a bit, so I will say it's a work in progress…… #artwip💜 🌇💙 . . . . . . . . . . . #embermystdesigns #embermyst #magicrocks #alcoholinkartist #alcoholinkonyupo #abstractinkpainting #abstractart #abstractexpressionism #abstractartist #eclecticartist #eclecticdecor #eclecticart #colorfull #passioncolorjoy #abeautifulmess #artistofinstagram #artistlife #adayinthelifeofanartist #artartart #artabstract #arizonaartist #azcreatives #texturejunkie #iamanartist #loa #manifest #mindset #always #rockframe

So I hear that during March you’re supposed to “meet the maker.” I do have several new followers, so an introduction seems a good idea anyway. Here’s my mug. Now what else might be of interest about me? 1. I love to paint but dislike drawing. I’m currently taking a drawing class to try to get over this aversion. 2. I’m an introvert, but I’m not shy. 3. I love nature and hiking. 4. My wanderlust is strong. So much so that I lived in Airbnb’s from October 2016 to October 2017. 5. My favorite thing about my new Tucson hometown is Mexican food. Specifically, Sonoran (flat) enchiladas. 6. I’ve been a vegetarian for 25 years. 7. I like to challenge myself to do things that make me uncomfortable (at least once). 8. I have a degree in painting from Bellarmine University, but I worked in nonprofit fundraising and marketing for 15 years before taking the last year to focus on my art again. I still work as a consultant in this field. 9. I collect folk and outsider art, although most of it was sold to finance my travels last year. 10. I’m a popcorn addict. 11. I’m really a bit boring. 😂 What else would you like to know about me? #meetthemaker #marchmeetthemaker #teressajacksonart #teressathetucsonan #tucsonartist #azartist #arizonaartist #artistsoninstagram #art #artist #painter #bio #profile #mexicanfood #tucson #vegetarian #traveler #wanderlust #popcorn #folkart #outsiderart #introvert #selfie #aboutme #abouttheartist #hiker #womenwhohike #womenwhopaint #reinventyourself #selfportrait #painter
